National coverage of France with SPOT multispectral geocoded images for landcover interpretation (IGN Cartographic Database).
Entry ID:
SPOT_XS_Orthoimages_over_France
Summary
Abstract:
These SPOT XS images have been bought and processed by IGN
(French National Geographical Institute) to provide the basic information for the interpretation of land cover over France. The geocoding used space triangulation to correct the SPOT images by large continuous blocks (up to several dozen SPOT scenes) using ground control points from topographic maps at scale 1/25 000 and the IGN altimetric database (using a grid interval of 80 meters). The orthoimages are archived by standard IGN 1/50 000 mapsheets. About 80 % of the french territory has been covered and archived and the national coverage should be completed by early 1995. The orthoimages can be ordered by standard sheets at scale 1/50 000 on magnetic tapes or CD ROM through IGN ESPACE. Prices can be obtained at IGN ESPACE. Geographic Coverage
