The data resides in 1 book, 'Les Resumes Mensuels et Annuels des Observations sur les Precipitations atmospheriques' (C/db AO) written in Russian and French. The data contained in this book are tables of daily and monthly precipitation data for cities in Finland, parts of Eastern Europe, and Western Russia for the year 1914. The monthly precipitation parameters averaged over the period are 24 hour absolute maximum precipitation, and mean precipitation. Variables for each individual month are number of days of precipitation of a certain intensity, snow, sleet, and thunderstorms. Also included in these data are ten-day number of snow cover days, and amount and density of snow cover. Additional data resides in 2 books, 'Temperature-Und Niederschlagstafeln Fur 8 Finnische Orte' (C/dab J65u) and 'Uber Die Interdiurne Veranderlichkeit Der Temperatur, Besonders in Finnland', both written in German. The data contained in these books are tables of monthly, seasonal, and annual precipitation and surface temperature data for cities in Finland and Western Russia from 1846 to 1905. For the first book, the following temperature parameters averaged on monthly and annual time scales are included in these data: mean temperature deviation; mean maximum, minimum, and amplitude; mean month to month variability; highest and lowest temperature deviation; and maximum variation of the mean. The mean temperature variation is the only variable calculated for each individual year of the period. Other temperature parameters are: mean deviation of the monthly mean; absolute monthly maximum temperature; and mean month to month variability. The second book includes the following temperature parameters: mean variability for hour intervals; mean variability for all hours; seasonal variability; maximum amplitude of the largest variability; and mean maximum monthly amplitude and asymmetry of mean extreme interdiurnal variations for hour intervals. Precipitation parameters averaged on monthly and annual time scales included in these data are largest total, and maximum variation of the total. Monthly parameters include: mean precipitation amount; number of days with precipitation greater than a certain intensity; mean and absolute 24 hour maximum; and variability of the monthly total. Annual variables incorporated in these data are mean yearly sum and mean deviation from the 20 yr. mean. These books are part of the foreign meteorological data collection held by the NOAA Central Library in Washington, DC. Information in this collection dates back to the 18th century for daily, monthly, seasonal, and annual tabular summaries, and the 19th century for weather maps. These data are the result of foreign exchange agreements, but the collection has not been updated since 1983.
